Your First Visit
Dr. Tayebjee is very thorough, and she wants to make sure you understand what we do here. Here is a quick breakdown of what to expect when you first visit our center.
Patient Forms
At your first visit to Brain Health D.C., you will complete all needed forms in the office prior to your Consultation. Our forms are extensive and we recommend you take your time to fill these out prior to your appointment. The doctor needs as much information filled out as possible, especially when it comes to your health concerns. Please fill out these sections as accurately as possible, no matter how minor or unrelated you think it is. This will ensure that the doctor will provide the best and most accurate care possible.Consultation
Next, you will have a consultation with the doctor to discuss your health-related concerns and goals. This initial visit is designed for the doctor to learn more about you, your condition, symptoms and complaints. Understanding the timeline allows the doctor to set expectations and determine how our treatment can meet your goals.Examination
After your consultation, the doctor will perform a comprehensive neurological, orthopedic, chiropractic and/or physical examination. The systematic examination allows the doctor to survey how the body and nervous system are communicating and assesses how the patient is processing the surrounding physical environment. Measures such as postural control, reaction times, motor accuracy and neurological endurance, all in a concerted effort to pinpoint specific areas of impairment and determine cause of complaint.More in-depth Studies
Depending on your specific condition, we may refer you for additional testing. Additional testing may include:- Diagnostic testing to evaluate and identify nervous system dysfunction
- Laboratory testing to evaluate biochemical dysfunction and/or deficiencies
- Advanced Imaging studies such as X-Rays, MRI or CT studies to evaluate visual representation of the interior of the body, organs and tissues
These tests help the doctor determine your health and wellness status, develop the most effective treatment plan for you, and alert the doctor of any serious conditions.Report of Findings
The Report of Findings is presented at your second visit. The doctor will put together the clinical results from the consultation, evaluation and/or diagnostic testing and present a detailed report of all findings that incorporates all of the doctor’s recommendations. These recommendations include: how the doctor can help you, the treatment modalities that could benefit you, how often the doctor recommends treatment and the time and cost commitment. Additionally, our doctor is dedicated to providing you the best care possible. However, if we are unable to accept your case an appropriate referral will be provided.Treatment
At the conclusion of the Report of Findings one of our staff members will get your treatment set up with the doctor. Because we believe that every patient is unique, we provide each patient with an individualized care plan that is designed to address specific impairments discovered through the above process. The individualized plan includes an intensive regimen of in-office therapies and simple in-home exercises that are all uniquely selected and combined to meet the patient’s specific conditions. Progress is measured regularly to provide rapid feedback and allow refinement of the plan as necessary to achieve the desired results. Treatment may include physical therapy, neurological therapies, spinal adjustments, and/or soft tissue work. While the majority of our patients are local, we serve patients from across the nation and globe. Dr. Nisreen has worked with patients all over the world from Africa to Europe and South America. For these patients, we offer intensive and immersive treatment plan options. If you fall into this category, please contact our office directly for more information.Personalized At-Home Programs
Think back to when you learned to ride a bike, drive a car or play a new sport. First, you needed to learn the essential skills. Then it was all about practice and more practice until you increased your confidence, improved your speed and became skilled. We believe repetition builds and strengthens connections. With specific goals in mind to improving symptoms, as a patient progresses we train patients on how to perform personalized at home care plans. The goal is to encourage independence and autonomy while maintaining progress and achieving new strides. Furthermore, we provide continued communication, follow up and re-evaluation as necessary.“Repetition is the mother of learning, the father of action, which makes it the architect of accomplishment.” (Zig Ziglar)
